• HANDMADE heavyweight paper made by artisans known as the “Kagzis”. In the 16th century, Raja Man Singh, the ruler of Ambar, settled the Kagzi in Sanganer on the banks of Saraswati river where clear water was easily available. Thus, this city emerged as one of North India’s largest paper-producing centers. The size of this community has decreased in the last few years but a small group of Kagzis remains to carry on this craft.
